What is Newfluent?

Newfound Strength.
Fluent Movement.
The name “Newfluent” was inspired by the elegant, fluid movement of both Pilates and the Newfoundland dogs who share our space. Known as “gentle giants,” Newfoundlands bring a calm, grounding presence to the studio.
Despite their massive size, they move with quiet confidence, embodying the kind of grace and awareness we strive for in every Pilates session.
Their peaceful energy sets the tone: slow down, connect, and move with intention.

Marissa Vidler, Founder & Instructor
Marissa is a certified Pilates instructor who believes Pilates should be intuitive, tailored, and fun! She specializes in contemporary Pilates flows that are creative, effective, accessible, and tailored for each client.
Her teaching style emphasizes clear, concise cues, sometimes odd but always effective analogies, and a calm, supportive environment so you can build confidence in your movement.
Her dogs may have inspired the name, but helping you move better, feel stronger, and live more fluently in your body is her priority.

Sugarbear
Chief Wellness Officer
At 8 years old, Sugarbear is the steady heartbeat of the studio. Ever watchful, she makes sure everyone is safe, comfortable, and moving with ease. A born caretaker, she’s the one who checks on you if something feels off; no appointment necessary. She radiates calm but always keeps one eye open, just in case you need her. Her hobbies include kayaking, swimming, and recreational fishing (strictly catch-and-release, by choice).

Jellybean
Director of Serenity
The definition of gentle giant, Jellybean is our resident zen master. At 6 years old, she has perfected the art of deep relaxation and her mellow presence is delightfully contagious. Prepare for a soulful connection when you lock eyes with her. As a certified therapy dog, she moonlights at libraries and schools, sharing her gift of serenity. Her hobbies include inspiring naps, listening to children read, and perfecting the art of the slow blink.

Pickles
Head of Hospitality
The newest member of the crew, 3-year-old Pickles, brings a spark of joyful energy to the team. As our self-appointed welcoming committee, he greets everyone like they’re his long-lost best friend. Pickles is still learning his studio manners, so he usually enjoys watching sessions through the baby gate outside the studio. Hobbies include car rides, champion snuggling, Olympic-level snoring, and keeping the couch from floating away.
All three of these amazing dogs are rescues; 10% of all Newfluent Pilates proceeds will be donated to Heart of America Newfoundland Rescue

Fully equipped Pilates studio
With a variety of equipment and props, every session is different, creative, and is tailored to your personal goals
01.
Reformer
If Pilates had a celebrity, it would be the Reformer. This versatile piece of equipment uses a moving carriage, springs, and straps to create a smooth, gliding workout that can be adapted for any body and any goal. The springs give you resistance to build strength, but they also support you when you need it. We’ll use the reformer to lengthen muscles, improve posture, and build balanced strength.
02.
Springboard
If the Reformer is the celebrity, the Springboard is the hidden gem. This wall-mounted system of springs and straps challenges your stability in every direction, making your core work overtime. It’s great for building upper-body strength, improving posture, and increasing mobility. We’ll use it to add variety, keep workouts fresh, and help you feel strong from head to toe.
03.
Pilates Chair
The Pilates Chair is all about functional, full-body strength. With a pedal and adjustable springs, it’s ideal for building lower-body power, improving balance, and training your body for everyday movements. Many exercises are done upright, making it a great complement to the Reformer’s horizontal work and a fun way to challenge your stability.
04.
Other Equipment & Props
The mat is the heart of Pilates where core strength, control, and precision begin. We also use the Spine Corrector for gentle back extension and posture work. Props like the magic circle, Pilates ball, BOSU, resistance bands, and gliders are paired with equipment to add variety, challenge, and fun helping us target specific muscles, build strength, and keep workouts fresh.
